Gateway Performing Arts Studio is so excited to announce that we will be one of the first theaters in Illinois to perform the full version of Disney's award winning Broadway show "The Little Mermaid!" Thank you for showing interest in auditioning for this incredible opportunity!
Here is everything you need to know about how to audition and what to prepare.
Auditions and callbacks:
Saturday April 23rd and Sunday April 24th at Gateway Performing Arts Studio. Auditions will be from 11am-4pm and callbacks from 5pm-9pm on both days.
After your audition, we will inform you as to whether you will receive a callback that evening. We will tell you what role (or roles) to come prepared for. Materials for callbacks will be available for you to take with you and return at your callback.

Please prepare 16 bars of a musical theater repertoire piece not from the show. (Have sheet music clearly marked with start and stopping points for accompanist.)

Be prepared for a dance audition following your vocal audition.

Please bring a headshot and resume to be attached to your audition form.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time to allow time to fill out audition forms.
*Please include on your audition form if you have any tap experience. There will be a tap callback, so please bring your tap shoes with you if you own a pair. If you do not, no worries, just wear your street shoes.

If you are cast, there will be a $90 production fee due no later than the first rehearsal date. Your show t-shirt is included in this fee. Rehearsals will be at Gateway Performing Arts Studio from 1-6pm, extended rehearsals 1-9pm with a half hour dinner break.
Rehearsal dates are:
Sunday, May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th
Sunday, June 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th (extended rehearsal)
Sunday, July 3rd (extended rehearsal)
Tech week:
July 10th (extended rehearsal), 11th-14th (5-9pm)
Show Dates:
July 15th 7pm, July 16th 2pm and 7pm, July 17th 2pm and 7pm? at Rockford University's Maddox Theater in the Clark Arts Center.
A detailed rehearsal schedule will be given at the first rehearsal. All adult cast members will be asked to serve at least 5 hours on a committee of their choice, and one parent of each child will be asked to serve at least 5 hours on a committee of their choice. With these minimum 5 hours served, each family will receive 1 comp ticket for Thursday night's preview performance.
